Service Programs

The Knights of Columbus focus on five areas when planning our service programs. Do you think you can help out with one of these activities? Do you have an idea of a new program we could that addresses one of the points below? Contact Program Director Mike Kruger, who oversees each of activites below, or one of the Activity Directors or Committee Members.

  • Pro-Life – promote the Right to Life
  • Human Needs – housing, defeat hunger, and support people with intellectual & physical disabilities
  • Civic Involvement – promote penal and display the flag
  • Environment – plant trees, clean parks, and respect your world
  • Volunteerism – volunteering in the community and “Make a Difference Day”
  • Public Safety – support Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and Paramedics
  • Health Services – focus public attention on heart disease, high blood pressure, Aids, and cancer.
  • Decency – stop pornography and obscene material; report violations of community standards

Council Activities

  • Public Relations – newsletter, press release to local papers, advertise council events and contests
  • Fraternalism – Knight of the Month / Year; recognize the progress of Knights
  • Cultural – good of the Order; guest speakers
  • Social – anniversary open house; council anniversary; family night
  • Blood Donations
  • Athletics – sponsor council clubs, teams, league tournaments and contest

Family Activities

  • Survivors’ Assistance – maintain contact with widows and dependant children
  • Memorials – attend wakes and funerals of brother Knights; donate rosaries
  • Education – support education, award scholastics and promote Catholic Schools
  • Communications – improve relationship between teens and parents; Sundays for Families
  • Family of the Month / Year – contact local paper
  • Family Projects – Marriage Encounter and Family Communion Breakfast
  • Recreation – Ladies Night, Summer Picnic and babysitting Program
  • Family Week – mid August, plan a mass, a picnic, dinner or pray service

Youth Activities

  • Columbian Squires – official youth organization of the Knights of Columbus
  • Youth Groups – CYO, Boy and Girl Scouts and 4H Clubs
  • Athletics – Basketball Free Throw and Soccer Challenge
  • Educational Programs – sponsor essay contest, college fair or spelling bee
  • Youth Welfare – substance abuse awareness poster contest
  • Religious Activities – retreat for Catholic High School students, fund raise for local Catholic project, the mission or vocations
  • Social Activities – film showings, dances, field trips or dinners
