We assisted with a soup kitchen at the East Tuscaloosa Community Soup Bowl this weekend. This two-day event of serving food to the needy in Tuscaloosa was made possible using donations and volunteers from Holy Spirit Parish. Including the purchasing and preparation activities Friday, plus the cooking, serving, and clean-up yesterday and today, there were about 60 volunteers participating at some point this weekend. During the two-hours we were open for lunch Saturday, 248 plates of chicken and gravy over rice, string beans, cole slaw, watermelon, pears, bread, and brownies along with sweet tea or water were served. Today, we served 231 plates of hash brown casserole, biscuits, grits, cornbread dressing, peaches, danish and doughnuts along with orange juice, milk, sweet tea, or water. The community was very appreciative to have us there. The parish plans to do this again in February. Additional pictures from the event can be viewed by reading on. Continue reading

Faithful Navigator Report
From Steve Griffin, FN:
Sir Knights of Assembly 2527:
We are about to complete another Fraternal Year for our Tuscaloosa Assembly and this year marks the end of my two year term as your Faithful Navigator.
I want to take a moment to congratulate you all for your support of and participation in this Fourth Degree Assembly which has become such a big part of the Tuscaloosa Community….especially for our Nation’s Veterans who are assigned to the local VA Medical Center. Not only were we recognized for extraordinary contributions to that group over the last two years, but it is important to note that our Assembly has become a regular member of the VA Family and know that we are included in nearly every facet of life for Veterans at the VA.
