The Hispanic members of the Knights of Columbus held an event at Holy Spirit Church yesterday evening known as Kermes, a Latin Food Festival . All of the proceeds from this event are going to the church.
Knights and their wives cooked and sold a variety of authentic Latin foods and drinks. Food and drink booths were setup in the parking lot between the parish hall and the school buildings. Just as the event was getting started, rain was headed toward the church. A game-time decision was made to move everything into the parish hall, kitchen, and Knights Hall.
After the rain ended, the band started playing and members of the crowd danced into the evening. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and has asked for it to be done a few times a year.
